Privacy policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what data the tian-c.com website and the 2048³ game (Android) use, why, and what your rights are. In short: no account to create and no selling of data. The game is free, funded by advertising, which is personalized only if you agree, and by tokens sold through Google Play. Your nickname and your results are sent to the world ranking.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Cassandra ROGER, sole proprietor (EI) trading as “Tian-C Studio”, 6 rue Saint Roch, 51110 Boult-sur-Suippe, France, publisher of the tian-c.com website and of the 2048³ game (legal notice: https://tian-c.com/en/legal).

Contact for any question about your data: [email protected].

2. The tian-c.com website

  • No account, no form: the website does not ask you for any personal information.
  • No advertising, no advertising or audience-measurement cookies on the website. The only cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, remembers the language you chose (French or English) for 12 months. It is strictly necessary and therefore does not require consent.
  • Fonts are hosted on our own servers: no request is sent to Google Fonts.
  • The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which technically processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site against attacks (see section 8).

3. The 2048³ game and the world ranking

You can play without creating an account. Your progress (levels, credits, customization, settings) is saved only on your phone: if you uninstall the game or change phones, it is lost. Purchased tokens, however, are saved on our server (see section 5).

When you take part in the world ranking or the daily challenge, the game sends our server:

  • an installation identifier, created at random by the game. It is never stored as is: the server only keeps an encrypted, non-reversible fingerprint of it, used to recognize your results;
  • the nickname you choose (3 to 16 characters), or otherwise an automatic nickname such as “Joueur1a2b”. This nickname is public: it is shown in the rankings, in the game and on this website;
  • your results: mode, highest tile, score, number of moves, game time and date;
  • for the daily challenge, in addition: the number of undos and the sequence of your moves, which lets the server replay the game to check that it is genuine.

This data contains neither your name, nor your email, nor your precise location, nor your contacts. Choose a nickname that does not identify you.

4. Advertising

The game shows ads provided by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited). Some are optional: you can choose to watch a video to get an in-game reward. Nothing forces you to.

To display ads, measure their performance and fight fraud, AdMob collects in particular:

  • your Android device’s advertising ID;
  • your IP address and an approximate location (country, region) derived from it;
  • technical information about the device (model, Android version, language);
  • your interactions with ads (display, click, video watched to the end).

For personalized advertising, Google acts as an independent data controller, under its own rules. The game’s consent form is Google’s (User Messaging Platform): it lists the advertising partners and the purposes.

On first launch, if you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent form asks whether you accept personalized advertising. If you refuse, you still see ads, but non-personalized ones: they are not chosen according to your interests.

You can change your mind at any time with the “Privacy” button in the game settings. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in the Android settings (Settings > Google > Ads, or Settings > Privacy > Ads, depending on the device).

Tian-C Studio only receives overall statistics from Google (number of ads shown, revenue) and no data about you in particular. How Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

5. Token purchases

Shop tokens are bought with real money through Google Play. Payment is entirely handled by Google: Tian-C Studio never receives your banking details.

To deliver your tokens, our server checks the purchase with Google and receives a confirmation: the product bought, the date and an order identifier. This information is used to credit you, to handle any claim or refund, and for our accounting.

Your token balance is saved on our server, linked to the fingerprint of your installation identifier, along with the history of your token purchases and spending. The game gives you a recovery code: on a new phone, it lets you get your tokens back. Keep it to yourself, as it gives access to your tokens.

6. Why this data is used and on what basis

  • Rankings and daily challenge: this is the service you request by taking part (performance of the service).
  • Fighting cheating and abuse: our legitimate interest in keeping the rankings fair.
  • Personalized advertising: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Non-personalized advertising and ad-fraud measurement: our legitimate interest in funding a free game.
  • Purchases: performance of the sale, then our legal obligations (accounting, consumer rights).

Tian-C Studio never sells or rents your data.

7. How long it is kept

  • Nickname and results: as long as the ranking exists, or until you ask for their deletion.
  • IP address sent to our server: it is never stored in clear. Only a fingerprint is used to limit the number of submissions, and it is erased after a few minutes.
  • Anti-replay codes of submissions: erased automatically after 2 days.
  • Advertising data: kept by Google under its own policy.
  • Token balance: as long as you play. Purchase confirmations and token history: 10 years, as required by accounting obligations. If you delete your data, this history is only kept as a fingerprint that nothing links to you any more.

8. Who can access it

Only Tian-C Studio has access to the ranking and token database. Nicknames and results are public by nature.

Our host, Cloudflare, Inc., hosts the website, the server and the ranking and token database.

Google processes advertising data (AdMob) as well as downloads and payments (Google Play), under its privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Cloudflare and Google may process data outside the European Union, notably in the United States. Both are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which governs these transfers.

9. Your rights and deleting your data

Delete your data in one step: in the game, Settings > Privacy > “Delete my data”. Your nickname, results, daily challenge results and token balance are erased from our server. If you still have tokens, the game asks you to confirm that you accept losing them. You can also request deletion by email, without having the game installed, at [email protected].

Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you can request access to your data, its correction (your nickname), its deletion, or object to its processing. Write to [email protected] with your nickname and, if possible, the mode and date of one of your results, so that we can find your data. We reply within one month.

For advertising, you can withdraw your consent with the “Privacy” button in the game settings, and manage your advertising ID in the Android settings. For data held by Google, you can also contact Google directly (myaccount.google.com).

You can stop taking part in the ranking at any time and uninstall the game: the progress saved on your phone is then erased.

If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr), or with the authority of your country.

10. Children

The game is intended for players aged 13 and over. It does not ask for any information that identifies or allows contacting a player. A player under 15 cannot accept personalized advertising alone: their parents must give or refuse this consent. We also advise helping them choose a nickname that does not reveal their name.

Purchases go through the household’s Google Play account. Google Play lets parents require approval before every purchase (Parental controls and Family Link).

A parent can ask for the deletion of their child’s data at the address above.

11. Security

Exchanges between the game and our server are encrypted (HTTPS) and signed, and the installation identifier is only kept as a fingerprint.

12. Changes

If the game evolves (for example with new online features or another advertising partner), this page will be updated and its date changed. Any significant change will be announced in the game.
